On entering the fort, we pass through a Barrel vault structure located past the Lahore Gate, which acted as a market that was built to satisfy the needs of higher ranked Mughal women, who resided inside the fort.
Even now, there are shops selling items like jewellery, traditional shawls, handbags, and antique items that appeal to tourists. The place buzzes with life like any other market in Delhi and is no more restricted to the royal women. Many students on their school trips, tourists from other countries and Indians from various states can be seen shopping at these stalls.

On talking with one of the shopkeppers, Mr. Kumar, one of the shopkeepers, told us that he had no ancestral tradition of selling goods at the Red Fort Bazaar. He came here to sell stuff for better profits than a regular market.
